The Month in Review

  • No more hand, foot, and mouth disease, and I think we were able to keep ourselves quarantined enough that we didn't infect anyone else.
  • We had a lovely trip to Colorado, leaving the morning after the Waldo Canyon fires started in Colorado Springs.  On our way north, we had ash floating in the car.  It was exciting stuff.
  • After leaving Colorado Springs and the fire, we drove through the hinterlands of Colorado and across the broad expanse of Nebraska, reaching our destination of a converted caboose for our stay in the Omaha area.
  • As if we weren't already busy enough, we accepted a contract on our house (some day, I'll fill you in on the skinny, but since the deal isn't done yet, I'll keep the details to myself).
  • We moved.  Um, WOW.  Having lived in the same house for six years, and during that time gone from a family of 3 to a family of 5(or 6!) as well as learning to can, the "stuff" was overwhelming.  The woman who estimated how much we had to move was off by about half, so we were completed unprepared for how slowly the packers backed (being thorough is all well and good, but needing 8+ hours to pack a small, 100 sq. ft. kitchen is just RIDICULOUS... but so is having someone else pack your house.  If I hadn't been pregnant, I would have packed myself.  But, I was, so I didn't.  Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?).
  • James is now on a war path, after unpacking with the help of my family and a wonderful, amazing, generous friend, to have the garage sale to end all garage sales.  Seeing all our goodies (and worthless things) come out of boxes was a wake-up call that even we, who try to keep it simple, have too many things.
  • Bring on the garage sale!
(I found a picture to share, but it's being reluctant.  Maybe next time!)

It's Been Crazy...

Sick Assistant... Sick kiddos (all three)... Family trips to Colorado and Nebraska... Finally an offer on our house... AND...

Baby Jo-Jo, due in January, has shut down sewing for a few months due to some awful all-day sickness.  I'm easing back into it now so I can finish my Scraps to Treasures quilt!
