Scrappy Strips

I finished my purple blocks, and here they are chillin' with the other two rows.  I need 10 rows for this quilt for my son, to fit in his new full size bed, and still need to decide what should go in between as sashing of sorts.

I love how these blocks all come from scraps, so they fit in with Judy's monthly challenge, and so far they've been easy to construct from one color, so they also fit into the lovely Rainbow Scrap Challenge!

Stash Report Week #16

Purchases for a challenge quilt were partially offset by a finish of the last of the Easter clothes.  My personal goal is to use twice what I purchased, and I've fallen a bit behind.  Fortunately, quilting and finishing a quilt is on the agenda for next week!

IN this week: 4 1/4 yards
IN YTD: 28 1/4 yards

OUT this week: 2 yards
OUT YTD: 56 1/4 yards

YTD totals: 27 1/2 yards OUT!

Fortunately, I'm still headed in the right direction!

Rainbow Scrap Challenge: Purple

I love this color.

I could use a few more mediums, but the purple blocks on my wall look pretty spectacular together.  I still (ack!) have an Easter dress to finish, so there will be no purple sewing until that pretty little dress is done.  To sewing!

Purple People Eater

Happy song!

Anyway, I've been pegging away at Easter clothes (five down, one to go!) and the extra Carrie Nation blocks from previous months.  The six blocks for the last three months are done.  Aren't they splendid?

The purple blocks are in quarters now, so next week I'll be able to whip all of them up.  I'm also working on sampler blocks and cut all the pieces for my "Judy" blocks.  So far, so good, for this month.

You can check out other splendidly purple projects that are part of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge on Saturdays!

Oh, the cake!

Frosting the middle...
And the top...
And the sides.  Oops, ran out of one color.  It's a good thing he wanted a third color anyway!
And the cake, one wedge left!

Tell It to the Stars: Month 4

Whew!  Not sneaking in at the end of the month feels splendid!  Instead, I know have time to know out all the other projects with one less hanging over my head.

I'm very pleased with how these look together, and the directions are fabulous.  You can still join if interested (check out the link HERE!).

Purple, purple, purple

Purple is my future SiL's favorite color, so there's a purple apron wrapped up and ready for her shower today!  Yay!

I managed to cut a 4" strip from all my purples and reduced a small pile entirely to scraps, as they were much smaller than a fat quarter and weren't doing me any good in their current state.  Now I have plenty of lovely purples to use for the month!

I also cut out all the pieces for my Carrie Nation blocks and 6 (I think) sampler blocks.  Once I finish the crunch time involved in Easter clothes sewing (half done!), I will be able to whip out some lovely purple creations.  This week, I only managed two sampler blocks.

In the meantime, it's Bear Cub Q's birthday tomorrow, and he requested a rainbow cake.  I'm not sure he knows what he wants, so this will make him happy!

Off to frost!

Get it Done: April

Slow down, slow down, slow down.  (I'm talking to myself here.  It doesn't seem to be working.)

March goals were:
1.  Tell It month three, which I eked out in the dregs of the month.

2.  Use my teal scraps.  Score!  Carrie Nation blocks, sampler blocks, a row quilt row, some 2" blocks, and an apron filled out this goal.

3.  Quilt 16 rings on my DWR quilt.  Don't laugh.  I tried.

4.  Finish two dresses for the wedding.  I managed one, and a vest.  Does that count for anything?

5.  An apron for my future SiL.  Done.  I hope she loves it as much as I do!  I'm excited to gift it this weekend.

6.  Finish the Assistant's teacher quilt top.  Done!

Completely finishing four goals and partially finishing 2 is going to be deemed fabulous.  This morning sickness nonsense is brutal.  My last three pregnancies were so much better than this one, although the first still holds the record for the worst!

I'm trying to rein myself in for April, but there are necessary finishes this month!

1. Tell It month 4.

2.  Purple scraps.  Since I just finished a purple apron, I won't have clothing on my list!

3.  DWR.  Progress. Mum only asking for progress.

4.  Finish our wedding/Easter clothes.m necessary by Easter!

5.  Finish the Assistant's quilt.  Probably folly, but otherwise I have two quilts to complete in May!

March Block Count

Omigosh: 2
Misc.: 1 new for a total of 2
TTS: 2 new for a total of 6
2" blocks: 3 new for a total of 6
Judy blocks: 13 new for a total of 27
Sampler blocks: 7 new for a total of 21
Carrie Nation blocks: 6 new for a total of 18
9 patches and Rails: 87 blocks new!

122 new blocks for a total of 170 blocks for 2014!

Constructing an entire quilt top really racks up the numbers!

August Block Count

I thought I wrote this, but it seems to be lost somewhere or I never wrote it at all… August was a quiet block month, with only 42 16-patch...
