WIP

Less than 10 spools left until all the kitted ones are finished!
And, so I don't forget the layout, here's all of the ones that made the cut for the quilt...
Slow progress is being made on the Irish chain quilt.  I simply have too many in progress right now!
My 2" square blocks.  I think I need 10 more.  I think.  Clearly, I don't need any more blue!
 The Assistant and her "do."
6+ inches of rain delivers a delightful glut of tomatoes.  Sauce-making time has arrived!
I also brought my Scraps to Treasures quilt to the top stage today!  I can't show pictures until after it is revealed in October, but it is MUCH better than the quilt from last year.  In fact, it was so horrible I never posted in on the blog.

Sampler: So Close!

After a marathon sewing afternoon Sunday and a kick in the pants to myself to just get the dreaded block done (left hand blue row, bottom block... all those triangles!), I've made progress.

All the blocks are done and pressed.  They're even joined into rows.  What remains is to iron the blue rows and join them to the other sets.

My favorite row is the red and dark blue together, so now I wish I had made all the blocks that way... but I didn't, and I think this works.

Then I need to piece a backing and see if my batting will need to be pieced as well!  And... wonder about quilting!

Mystery Medallion Quilt, July

24 lovely log cabins.

Observation: my cutting skills are pathetic.  I could blame it on kids running around, or having to use a coffee table for cutting, or... whatever.  But, no, I'm pretty sure my skills are just bad.  I need to take more time when cutting!

I still love the mystery and the fabric!

Spools

After 7+ months of spooling along, I finally have a reason to lay them out and ponder their use.  (Ignore any blocks turned the wrong way, as this is only tentative).  I have over 200 finished but will still need 15 more red to finish the top.  There's a stack of 25 blocks that don't have a home in this quilt, and a few more kitted up, but they will all find a home somewhere!

Not-Quite-Teal

I used up ALL my "teal" in the great scrappy green quilt, so turquoise it is...

I've been catching up on my 2" 36-patches.  There's a turquoise one on the sewing table, and a medium blue yet to go.  Last week's scraps are turning into letters for my daughter.  Of course, Jo-Jo, with his newly acquired sitting up skills, has to wave them around and sample them!

Teal/Turquoise/Aqua

Whatever color we SHOULD be working with, here's the scraps I'm working with!

First, I sorted out the blue scraps that were too small for my current methods of saving.  These are going in the trash!
Next, I have a lovely binding prepped for my blue Irish chain, all teal/turquoise/lovely goodness!
Finally, here's what remains.  It might become letters for a special daughter.  There are plenty of 2" squares to sew up for the Irish chain (if I finish the customer's curtains in a timely manner!).

Get It Done July

What a month!  I've been busy in the garden before, but never quite so busy as this year!  Adding chickens, guinea fowl, a dog, a cat, and a farm business means I had very little sewing time in June, and most of it was devoted to work, not play.

Still, I did manage to accomplish most of my get it done goals for June.

1.  I did finish my Simply Woven quilt.  Since I only needed to hand-stitch two sides, it shouldnt have taken as long as it did!

2. Step 6 of the Mystery Medallion quilt was also completed.

3. I didn't finish a row of my sampler, but I finished the equivalent number of blocks!

4.  I used all but a tiny bit of my yellow scraps.

5.  No progress on the Scraps to Treasures quilt.  Gulp!

For July,

1. Step 7 of the Mystery Medallion.

2. One row of the sampler.

3.  Use up some teal/turquoise/aqua scraps.

4.  Make progress on my Scraps to Treasures quilt!
