Stash Report Week #43

Jury duty is over! Two days of purgatory... I don't object to jury duty, per se, but the nature of the case, my lack of babysitting, and my all-day "morning" sickness made this a really bad idea. If I could have sat in a trial those two days and been done, fine.

I made a temporary cover for the Assistant's bunk bed a while back but didn't count it... 3 yards out.

The Halloween dress is done except for a tulle underskirt. It's a little big, but since it's supposed to be cold, she can wear a shirt or sweater underneath. 4 yards out.

I made a scrappy pillow case for DH's grandmother using the red-white-blue fabrics I used for the star quilt Judy had instructions to earlier this summer. 1 1/4 yards out.

I realized Screamer doesn't have a trick-or-treat bag, so I whipped one up. It didn't work quite as I planned, but she won't care! 1/2 yard out.

IN this week: 0 yards
IN YTD: 167 yards

OUT this week: 8 3/4 yards
OUT YTD: 210 3/4 yards

YTD total: 43 3/4 yards OUT

I only need to bust 6 1/4 yards for the rest of the year (and buy nothing... gulp) to bust my goal of 50 yards! I'm working on a baby quilt for my lovely older sister (she's not expecting - her husband had the kidney transplant, but she picked out the fabric that inspired the quilt), and hope to finish it this year. Beyond that, I'm sure the Assistant will come up with plenty of things to finish. I also want to use the last of my RWBlue scraps as I don't want them any more!

Fabric Giveaway

Brenda at Pumpkin Patch Primitives is having a delicious giveaway of some luscious Pumpkin and Spice fabrics. Now, I need more fabric like I need more scraps in my scrap drawer, but these would be lovely and different. Be sure to stop by and enter. She already has 366 entries, and her drawing isn't until November 1!

Thursday is my Friday!

Jury duty is done (praise God). It made for a horribly stressful two days due to the case matter. Fortunately I was not chosen for the jury and was sent home. Why couldn't it have been embezzlement or theft? I could have handled that. But no more!

The girls are home from Dallas, where DH took them during a business trip as we expected me to have duty all week. Screamer is making sure I know she didn't appreciate me not coming for the trip - but she had a blast while she was gone (she just won't admit it!).

I've been working on the Assistant's halloween costume, but it's too big. Dang. I'm waiting for some tulle from my mom. Maybe I can puff up the skirt enough that I don't need to hem it 8 inches! The Assistant likes it, so that's all that matters. Pictures will follow when it's done.

I just finished work for the week and am ready to do some fun sewing and relaxing. This pregnancy is really getting to me, but we're back to cooler weather. It's going to be a glorious day!

Stash Report Week #42

I finished Judy's quilt, just in time to have someone to give it to! Overall, I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out. It's all handquilted with stars, and I finally cut into some of my star and snowflake fabrics that I'd been saiving.

I also made a pillow case for the Assistant, who doesn't even care now that it's done! She does want her halloween costume finished soon, but I figure I have two weeks still.

If you used fabric to cover something (in this case, the bottom of the top bunk), does that count as out, even though it's not a permanent use? Do you have to count it back in when you take it off the bunk? Depending on what I decide, that may be 3 more yards out...

IN this week: 0 yards
IN YTD: 167 yards

OUT this week: 9 yards
OUT YTD: 202 yards
YTD Total: 35 yards out!

I only have 15 yards to go before I make my goal. The Assistant's costume will help quite a bit with that!

Stash Report Week #41

Nothing in, nothing out, although not by any help of DH.

We went to a food store that has a quilt shop next door. I had no intention of going to the quilt shop, even when I saw "Sale! Sale! Sale!" plastered on their windows. I want to bust 50 yards. So DH says, "I think we should go to the sale after the food store."

"Nope," said I. "You're no help in stash busting!" He just laughed and tried to tell me we should go when we left the other store. Bad, DH, bad!

Stash Report Week #40

You should hear the acorns hitting the house right now! When we sit in the living room, I sometimes jump when they hit the porch or roof. Right now, from the sewing room, I can hear the "plunk, plunk, plunk" on the driveway. Walking barefoot out there is dangerous for your health and comfort!

This week I made another apron, longer than my others, for kids in K-1. They were all too tall for my "toddler" aprons, so they needed one to protect their legs! I'm glad I found a use for that sun fabric. I wanted to use it for a pillow case, but there wasn't quite enough.

I also made a pillow case for my best friend. I forgot her birthday, so I will NOT forget her at Christmas. I did mess up on the enclosed seam on the side and bottom, but am happy with the tight zigzag that's covering the threads.

IN this week: 0 yards
IN YTD: 167 yards

OUT this week: 2 1/4 yards
OUT YTD: 193 yards

YTD Total: 26 yards OUT!

I only need to use 24 more yards to meet my goal. I've also used 17 spools of thread, and am running low on grey, white, tan, and black. There's only one problem...

Swine flu. Right now, in the high school where my mom works, 20% of kids are absent, the vast majority due to flu symptoms. It's so bad that they aren't testing for swine flu if they find out it flu type A because pretty much, if you have the flu, it's the swine flu. My husband works at another high school, and it's just about as bad there. I'm 3 months pregnant and REALLY don't want to get the flu, so the girls and I went to the grocery store for the only time for October and plan to sit tight except for church on Sundays. That also explains why I didn't get to go to the Quilt Shop Hop this weekend.

I am due for jury duty on October 19. Dang. I have two small kids and no money for a babysitter - and I don't want to get sick. We'll see what happens.

August Block Count

I thought I wrote this, but it seems to be lost somewhere or I never wrote it at all… August was a quiet block month, with only 42 16-patch...
