Sewing up a Storm

This week, for the first time, my DH took care of all six kids overnight for two nights while I visited my sister.  (Yes, first trip away from all my kids.)  It was amazing how quiet her house could be when she was resting and my nephew (a teen) was doing his own thing.  Nobody asked me questions, sat in my lap, or screamed for an hour.  Amazing.

When I got back I hit the sewing machine.  All my 16-patches are in halves.  That may not sound like much, but there is a ridiculous pile of halves to pin together.  All my churn dashes are in process, with five done.  Woohoo!

Friday, when I was tired of pinning, I fiddled with another difficult apron.  The apron for Miss G is now complete.  It could use some buttons for the back straps, but since she's not really able to button them herself yet, we're leaving them as over thick ties.  Three more to go (Spunky, the Assistant, and me).
Today is DH's birthday, so I've run to the farmer's market, whipped up creme brulee, baked chicken parmesan, and prepared for shrimp etouffee.  Hopefully I'll get to sew later!

Check out all the lovely blocks and projects today!

Glad you enjoyed some time with your sister - one day your house will be that quiet, too. Your turquoise and teal 16 patches are moving forward - hooray! I like that apron, too!

Did you have trouble sleeping in all that quiet? 8) Glad you got some time to spend with your sister!

Your description of sitting on a couch by yourself had me laughing. The hubby and I don't have kids, so other than Emma-No's demands, it's pretty quiet around here. We have the opposite when we visit family, but because it's temporary, it's not too bad and I know if we had kids, it would just be our normal. (And the nieces and nephews love us, so there's rarely significant drama!) The 16 patches look amazing!

Happy belated birthday to your Guy. Sounds like he got a very yummy birthday dinner. Glad you got some quiet time, though I agree it's odd when you aren't with the kids. We only had one, but when she was away for whatever, the house was eerily quiet and it's like "what's she up too". Love your pretty 9 patches and your red churn dash.

Stash Report Week #17 and 15 Minutes

The stash report is boring: no changes.  I did start quilting my New York Beauty quilt today and finished piecing the box blocks, so I will...
