Sunday evening, the heatwave (dome?) finally broke. The mornings are gloriously cool, but already the afternoons are creeping back up into the “hot” range. One morning my children asked me to shut the doors because it was too cold; I laughed and told them they should be glad they were cold.
Pink sewing this week focused on my Tiny Tuesday blocks. While wrapping up my adorable but wrinkly little pig, I got out all my blocks and started thinking. I know there’s plenty of time left to the year, but I began playing with the layout and considering what I want these blocks to become. Aren’t they a magnificent collection of patterns? It’s funny to see the places I inadvertently repeated fabrics. I’ll have to be on the lookout for that the rest of the year!
I also tried to make elasticized sheets for our mini pack N play. The first round was a failure, being too small, but I think I’m back on track with a second attempt that I finished Friday night. In the meantime, Spunky has designed a little baby quilt and I’m also sewing that together for her.
My 16-patches are almost all sewing up into chunks of 8. I will need more if I want the quilt king-sized, but I haven’t yet decided what I’m doing about that. For now, I'm sewing them into chunks, and maybe into larger squares. Then I'll probably have to make a decision!
Most of my sewing time this week was spent on sewing up strip sets for my Irish chain. I hope to finish them by the end of the day. Next week, I'll subcut, subcut, subcut. Hopefully, I won't get my various strata mixed up, and then I can pin and sew Block A. This is definitely not a project I could have finished in a month, so I'm glad I started it early!

Glad you're getting some relief from the heat! Your rainbow of Tiny Tuesday blocks is so much fun - I haven't put mine up on the design wall that way yet, but now I want to!
Your TT blocks look great, Katie! I'm wondering what to do about the different numbers in the different months. Some had four Tuesdays, some had five. Might just use the "bonus" blocks given in a couple of the months and do them in colors needed. For example, I could do the Two Fishes block in red -- I think there were only four of them! The heat broke here too but it is only July and we've got August to get through. I'm sure we'll see another group of unbearable days. Have a great weekend!
the cold front is coming to an end here too but the humidity is still lower than it had been last week I enjoyed the morning outside - I wonder if it will be higher humidity this afternoon? maybe I can still enjoy it for a little bit today
These look sweet together.
It's SEW nice to see your PINK on the wall with the other Tiny Tuesday blocks. LOVE the way the various colors appear throughout the design!!
The break in the heat was really nice. I'm hoping we miss out on any 100+ days that we typically get the first two weeks of August. Love your rainbow blocks! I didn't play along this year and now I wish I had. Good luck with all your stitching projects. Are the kiddos just about ready to go back to school? That's about two weeks off here.
